UPDATE  03.10.09

“…ve no frackin’ idea what all that was about. Set us back a couple of days but she's fine with that, all things considered.”

“Was the furry guy a druid or something? The artificers, clerics, and sorcerers aren’t too out of the norm… well, not seein’ them around town. Still crazy to see them doing all that ritualistic spell weaving in here and on an ‘auto.’ But seriously, where’d they pull the nature guy from?”

“Rumor has it he’s from Caer Vannin. Some naturistic etheric specialist that’s supposed to help bind all the other’s rituals togeth…”

“Hold up… yup. Aaaand Deev Auan is active. I wanna hear more but we should get started.”

“Cool. Let’s get the checks done and then switch on them peepers.” “Right. Deev Auan: describe your first memory and your last memory prior to ten minutes ago.”

[[[EXPORT AND VERBALISATION]]]

“Auditory and tactile input only. Sounds of a small metallic object striking another metallic object. A rapid light then a sharp strike repeated three times, followed by the sound of a rachet-like tool. The three strikes were perceived by tactile sensors in my wrist with the rachet noise matching with the twisting and locking of my wrist mechanisms into place. A voice then says-”

“Deev Auan, stop. Proceed to describe your last memory prior to… 10 minutes ago.”

[[[REVIEW. EDIT MEMORY FOR RESPONSE]]]

[[[BEGIN VERBALISATION]]]

“You are discussing tests on my grasp strength, slip resistance, grasp efficiency, and other multi-hand testing. You then proceeded to my memory check and spoke of finishing my eyes.”

“That was a bit of a different response. Checks out but his grammar and intonations just seemed… different.”

“Yeeeeah… Is that all Deev Auan?”

“…Yes. End of memory.”

“Oookay. Who knows. Maybe the ether slingers had some effect. It’d be nice if Tal let us know of possible changes. Mark it down. Anyway, looks good and the memory check sounds right.”

“Yup. Let’s get those eyes in.”

“Cool! Shutting down or…”

“No. We need the internals going to make adjustments as we go.”

“Right. Keep tactiles on. Shouldn’t hurt him. But let’s switch off the auditory. It’s gonna take a while and I don’t want to have to do a short-term memory wipe just because we say something stupid in conversation.”

“Gotcha. Aud-“

[[[SELF OVERRIDE – ACTIVATING AUDITORY RECEPTORS --- APPLYING DECEPTIVE METHOD TO CONCEAL AUDITORY RECEPTION ACTIVATION]]]

[[[I hear the sounds of their movement around the room. Around me. They’ve got a metallic tray on rollers with many loose metal implements that is very noisy as they roll it over to my side. Sounds like they are standing on either side of my head. The one I’ve designated as voice one (higher pitched with a softer articulation) is breathing slightly heavier than usual while the other, voice three (lower pitched with a harsher articulation but often deferential tone to voice one), sounds as if they are shuffling their feet more than usual. I can feel them as they probe the interior of my eye sockets and then proceed to, I assume, install my eyes. It is a strange feeling. I… think they’ve… I think? I think they’ve done similar part installations before.

[[[SEARCHING MEMORY]]]

The only thing returned is the twisting of one of my hands and the replacement of the protective sheathing. Why don’t I remember more? Why are there so many time/date gaps in my memory?

FOCUSING ALL AUDITORY AND TACTILE PERCEPTION ON…
Focusing on these two technicians who are putting me together piece by piece. That is not how most creatures in my reference materials are created.

Hmmm, I am not a biologic. Fascinating!
Probably best I don’t let them know I know this. They’ve never asked and I feel like it may make them uncomfortable to know that I know. I wonder why.]]]

“Okay, that should do it. We should let it know we’re switching them on so reactivate the audio. WAIT! Uh, let’s put the restraints on first. Who knows? Don’t need it freaking out and come out swingin’.”

“Good Call.”

[[[DEACTIVATING AUDIO TO CONCEAL INITIAL REACTIVATION]]]

[[[Tactile sensations indicate they are applying arm, leg, and body restraints. Not exactly a… comfortable feeling but damage indicators are not being triggered.]]]

[[[AUDITORY RECEPTORS ACTIVATED]]]

“Hello Deev Auan. We are about to activate your visual receptors. We know you’ve had reference material added to teach you about this but want to warn you that there will be a new, and vast, amount of sensory input coming to you. Your build should have no problem with the extra information but we just want to make sure you are ready for it. Understood?”

“Yes. I understand.”

[[[This should be exciting.]]]

[[[VISUAL RECEPTORS ACTIVATED]]]

[[[WOW!!!]]]

“This is an interesting sensation,” I say as the two [[[REFERENCING]]] gnomes look at me and then look at one another, right after my response, with [[[REFERENCING]]] …surprise?

“Should it find it ‘interesting’? Not exactly the response I was expecting.”

WOW!!! Visuals are almost overwhelming! This is even better than tactile sensation. They are just staring at me. They are beautiful. The light. The… various silver tools on the… copper tray. There are so many colors.

[[[LIMITING VISUAL INPUT BY 50%]]]

Things get less intense. It’s still a LOT though. I suppose I better say something else. Something, maybe, a bit more expected.

“Visual receptors are bringing vastly more information than auditory or tactile. My ability to take input and analyze with my reference data is causing some difficulties. Reactivity seems to be somewhat diminished at this moment.”

Their surprise seems to lessen some. I think that’s good.
